In the Tremie Concrete method, concrete is placed below water level through a pipe, the lower end of which is kept immersed in fresh concrete so that the rising concrete from the bottom displaces the water without washing out the cement content. Tremie pipes are also used in borehole installation, to place concrete, aggregate or bentonite to specific depths. I suggest that the article should be altered to discuss the use of tremie pipes, and could then be referred to on the Concrete page as well as those dealing with specific types of construction that use tremie pipes.
