Reading this article, I am unable to figure out whether this condition causes instant or rapid death or if it is a slowly worsening condition. You describe various treatments and discuss how it can be detected, implying that it is a medium- or long- term condition, but under "Prognosis" it says that a traumatic rupture in the thoracic aorta results in a 90-95% death rate. Death generally requires little effort to detect and is not treatable. This article implies that this condition is painful and such pain generally is not hard to detect.
