Criticism

[edit]

Although the book was an amazing tour de force it also created a new trend in the mathematical analysis of chemical engineering systems. Chemical engineering appeared to be adopted by people who wanted an excuse to do mathematics, and lost sight of the practical focus - or, at least, the easy adoption of the practical output of their work. Rutherford Aris was a leading light in this, producing works of great beauty and analysis, but which then required intermediates to turn the results into something that the wider chemical engineering community could use.

Why does "Transport theory" redirect here?

[edit]

I was redirected to this page while looking for information on transport theory as a whole. Why is it that this entire subject is redirected to a single book on the matter? Is this an oversight? --Yottaly (talk) 01:34, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit: Just to clarify, I was redirected from the page titled "Transport theory (statistical physics)". --Yottaly (talk) 01:36, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

The result of the move request was: Transport Phenomena redirected to the general topic at Transport phenomena. Not clear that the book is primary topic compared to the general concept, and disambiguating the two solely by a difference in case is doomed. Favonian (talk) 13:44, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
