Prequel?
[edit]The article says that the film is a prequel to the TV show. Is this confirmed?
Yes, it is confirmed when you watch Trailer Park Boys: The Movie Behind the Scenes, which was aired on October 1st, 2006 on ShowCase in Canada --Aleeproject 03:41, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
[Actually its not a prequel. The prequel was released in 19999. 2006 is another movie].
I saw the movie and it didn't look like a prequel to me. - SPKx 21:27, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
It's not canonical. It would have to take place before Jim Lahey gets his job back as a police officer (Season 6) and before Ray gets busted for his disability scam (Season 5). (Ray is back in "the chair" in the film). However, if Ricky and Lucy got married during the events portrayed during the film (which would have to have taken place in relation to the time line of the show), why did it never come up that they "secretly got married?" In fact, there was already a previous wedding that got interrupted because the boys got arrested. By Season 6, Lucy was sleeping with all sorts of people, including George Greene.
It couldn't have been a prequel to the entire series (as the TPB Christmas Special was) for the same reason of the Ricky/Lucy wedding that got interrupted during the series run.
Plus, the breast enhancement issue was already brought up. This was at about the time Rick burned down Ray's trailer. Lucy's breast implants were paid for with some of Julian and Ricky's money that was supposed to buy the park. Cory and Trevor were stupid though, and lost all the rest of this money when the boys were in jail.
The movie does not fit in with the continuity at all. It has the same characters and the same general situations, but it ignores things established in the series.
So, it's neither prequel nor canon, in my opinion.--ClintonKirk
Also, showing that if it were canon it would have to be a prequel, is Trinity's age in relation to the rest of the series. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.250.120.21 (talk) 07:49, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
Most of the Bubbles-centric plot (There are kitties everywhere) seems to be a mash-up of prior events. The logical conclusion is that the entirety of the film takes place within a dream of Bubbles' some time after the end of season 6. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.226.6.119 (talk) 22:50, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
Requested move
[edit]Trailer Park Boys: The Big Dirty → Trailer Park Boys: The Movie – The movie ads and official webpage all call it Trailer Park Boys: The Movie. No references found for it being called Trailer Park Boys: The Big Dirty. TheTruthiness 19:03, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
- I just read that this was just the preferred title by the director. As such, I moved the article - SPKx 21:27, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

- Weak support, Stated on website/imdb/theatre websites as Trailer Park Boys: The Movie, but also stated by Barrie Dunn on the Showcase special earlier tonight as being named "Trailer Park Boys: The Big Dirty", I believe.DemonWeb 03:57, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- Support (not that it matters, since it's been moved anyway...) - Looks like "The Big Dirty" was a "(Canada) working title" according to IMDB. Better to have it at the same page as such a primary external source lists it, for verifiability's sake. Maybe create redirects for other working/promo titles as well? --DeLarge 08:15, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
The "Big Dirty" was the name given to the film to distinguish it from the original 1999 black and white movie called Trailer Park Boys. The black and white movie was created before the show was optioned by Showcase in Canada. Presumably, calling the new film "The Big Dirty" helps the die-hard fans distinguish between the two. The phrase "the big dirty" is not out of thin air, it refers to an actual event in the film. It may not be the official marketed title, but it was seriously considered as a title and serves as an alternate title. --ClintonKirk
I agree this CANNOT be a prequel, there are simply too many factors to contribute against it being so. Also, I believe that it came before the show, but as a separate continuity of the character's lives.
Examples:
- Bubbles' Go-cart - Lucy's Plastic Surgery - J-Roc's dirty movies, which he apparently sells in gas stations and not to Russians, as he did in the show.
All of these things happened at different times in the series.-TeamQuiggan
I put the other title back into the article - SPKx 16:32, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]Add any additional comments If you added "Scared- Tragically Hip" to the soundtrack listing, it's been taken off but should be put back on. 2011/05/22 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.247.93.230 (talk) 02:58, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
I added Scared by the Tragically hip, I saw the movie last night and noticed the wiki was missing it. TeamQuiggan
Also, Trinity does steal barbecues in the show. Ricky teaches her and her classmates how to do it, all because they are under 18, and protected against being jailed by Canada's Youth Criminal Justice Act if they get arrested for theft.TeamQuiggan
Cast
[edit]Do we still need the clean up tag? Can anyone confirm that list is complete now? Davey4 11:02, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
I added Eugene Clark as "Cadillac" to the list of cast members. I also removed David Miller as the "Gay Man". After watching this movie several times, I could not find any instance of a "Gay Man" in this movie, nor could I find David Miller in the closing credits. Interestingly enough, IMDB[1] has David Miller listed among the cast as a "Bike cop", but I feel that this is also erroneous. I could not find any scene in this movie which featured a bike cop whatsoever. I have submitted a request to IMDB to correct this. Kepiblanc 23:12, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
Lifeson's Cameo
[edit]At what point of the movie is Alex Lifeson in? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by IMURDAD (talk • contribs) 01:52, 30 January 2007 (UTC).
Alex Lifeson appears as the cop who first comes to Julian's side of the car during the scene when Ricky tries to talk their way out of getting arrested for their attempted bank machine heist. Gord Downie appears as the cop who first comes to Ricky's side of the car. Kepiblanc 22:33, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
End Credits
[edit]What's the name of the last song that plays in the end credits? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.86.132.26 (talk) 15:46, 16 February 2007 (UTC).
- "Well On Your Way" by The Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir. Hugh Dillon (formerly of The Headstones) plays Sonny in the movie. JohnnyMyself (talk) 05:49, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
