Lots of jargon
[edit]For readers without a background in social theory/social sciences, this article may be very hard to get through. It lacks a "plain language" introduction (e.g. that traditional societies are distinct from industrial societies based on social and political organization), and introduces a lot of concepts that may not be "general knowledge" to most readers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Obobskivich (talk • contribs) 11:30, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
This Wikipedia page seems to me to be be written in a way that assumes readers will have background knowledge about the subject. I think the beginning paragraph should be more descriptive about what traditional society actually is. I also think that the language used is a bit high level. A lot of the points can be elaborated on. Some of the categories are extremely short, and if more is not added to them, I am not sure that they are actually necessary or relevant. A lot of terms and names are tossed around, but they are not explained. This should be fixed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natalierusnak (talk • contribs) 05:18, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
Lacks Clarity and Association with W.W. Rostow
[edit]The opening section does very little to make the information accessible to the average person. It should be re-written in more layman terms and be expanded upon.
There's also no mention of W.W. Rostow and his 5 Stages of Economic Growth in which 'Traditional Society' is the first stage. The 5 Stages and Traditional Society are intrinsically connected within the study of sociology and should therefore be referenced together.
