Appropriate use of Lang template
[edit]@Iryna Harpy: I'm afraid you've made a mistake by reverting my recent improvements to Lang template use on this article. Per MOS:FOREIGNTERMS, any words in an article that are in a foreign language should be encased in a Lang template and tagged with the correct ISO language code (or encased in a language specific Lang template).
This article had two Ancient Greek words completely unenclosed in any template and one Ancient Greek word mistakenly enclosed in Lang-gr, which is a (somewhat outdated) template meant to be used exclusively with Modern Greek. I corrected these issues and, unless I'm missing some sort of mistake on my part, I'd ask that you reinstate my edits. –Thanks! Skoulikomirmigotripa (talk) 12:39, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hello, Skoulikomirmigotripa. Reinstated. It really isn't an issue worth bad feelings over. I don't work on many articles using Greek, so I'll take your word that the ISO code you're using is the more precise one. Happy editing! Iryna Harpy (talk) 08:40, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
- Happy editing to you as well! Sorry I've my request for reinstatement read as a bit grumpy. Was your issue with the my use of 'Lang-grc-gre' in place of 'Lang-gr'? If so here's what's going on there: 'λάγανον' is an ancient Greek word and so needs to be marked with the ISO code 'grc'. The language specific template ('Lang-grc') in this case sticks the link 'Ancient Greek:' in front of the word; by adding the '-gre' (so 'Lang-grc-gre') the link remains '[Greek]' as it was before my edit. I'm not sure if this is the most correct link to have there, but I was mostly concerned with correcting the ISO tag. –Cheers, Skoulikomirmigotripa (talk) 12:40, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
