I will take a look at this.--ZKang123 (talk) 03:44, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
Images
[edit]- Most of the images here are under CC license or public domain.
- Poster has non-free rationale
- File:F-14A Tomcat in Top Gun Maverick.png – I'm unsure about the use of a screenshot of an F14 from the film to illustrate the depiction of the F14 in the film. Like, why not use a photo of an actual F14, like the image of the USS Abraham Lincoln?
- This is a very good point. It was added to represent that some of it was visual effects but I can change it Lankyant (talk) 06:08, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
Lead
[edit]- from stories by Peter Craig and Justin Marks. – a bit confused here. Is the film based on stories written by these two?
- Craig and Marks have story credits as they had been writing earlier versions. Changed to from material? based on material? Lankyant (talk) 06:08, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- who insisted that it be released exclusively in theaters. – I think you are missing a "must".
- it reads fine to me without change. Have added 'should' as opposed to 'must' for tense. Lankyant (talk) 06:08, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
Plot
[edit]- I did some slight copyediting of the plot, but personally I think it's still a bit long. Then again, it might be due to the technical military details, the rank, call signs and names and so on.
Cast
[edit]- I suggest that the cast list be cited, as seen in other films like Rogue One and Terminator 2: Judgment Day
Production
[edit]- attendees were able to watch for the first time some early footage of the film –
attendees were given a first look at some early footage of the film
- During the presentation – I think you can remove this part. It's quite clear enough Viane and Daily are at the presentation.
- Also are their job titles as part of them being in Paramount?
- the project was unexpectedly stalled – remove "was"
- For the paragraph beginning with Scott had apparently finalized the script and begun scouting locations.... I suggest shifting it earlier, since Scott scouted these in 2012 before his death.
- McQuarrie opted to mostly ignore the first film during the writing process – I will add an explanation as to why.
- While Bruckheimer and the filmmakers wanted to bring Kilmer back, Cruise insisted on it. – "while" to me seems to imply a contrast, but these two clauses have the same supporting idea. Might rewrite to:
Bruckheimer and the filmmakers wanted to bring Kilmer back, especially with Cruise's insistence.
- Also another article revealed he wasn't interested. Maybe that can be added in the article.
- because, as Bruckheimer put it –
because, according to Bruckheimer
- Most work was done by Method Studios and MPC Film, though Lola VFX and Blind provided the 2D motion graphics, training visualizations, and the jet's head-up displays. – this sentence is uncited.
- after his lines were cut from the film – might further clarify it was Jacinto's lines being cut.
- Done all of above except McQuarrie. Have a look at changes and let me know. Didn't add the source as it is for the original Top Gun so will put it there instead! Thanks Lankyant (talk) 06:58, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
