Change of name

[edit]

I would propose to change the name of this article to the Wakhpa Chu'gn Buffalo Jump. This is the more common name for the site. Comments?Smallchief (talk 13:36, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Meaning of name

[edit]

Why does it seem like none of these articles about places with strange or interesting names bother to explain why they are called so? Is "Too Close For Comfort" and old settler name, or a modern name? Does anyone even know what it means? Also, could the caption of the photo maybe be clearer about what part is physically the buffalo jump? I don't see anything that looks like a normal buffalo jump, unless weathering has softened the landscape somewhat(unlikely). I suppose even a steep hillside could cause buffalo to trip up and break their legs, but usally one associates "buffalo jump" with a sheer drop of a dozen or two feet. All I see are a couple of semi-steep hillsides, unless the photograph was taken from on top of the cliff.
