Cultural background?

[edit]

What cultural background does Tony Armstrong identify with please? Earthello (talk) 20:29, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This article says he is of Barrabinya descent

[edit]

And yet this ABC article from October 2024 (a couple of months ago) describes him as "a proud Gamilaroi man".

Given that both the words "Barrabinya" or "Gamilaroi" have no meaning in English, why is he described as of Gamilaroi descent here, and yet "a proud Barrabinya man" in the recent ABC article?

At the 2022 logie awards when he won a Logie Award, he sincerely thanked his mother Margaret Anne Armstrong who is White, and yet there is no mention of who is mother is in this article or her background. Yet it can be found through interviews with him that she raised him as a single mother.

A photograph of this fellow featured on the front page of the ABC 2023-2024 annual report. Perhaps that is worthy of mention given the ABC receives over $1 billion Australian tax dollars per year for their programming.

That last fact would be a welcome addition to the article. Why not do it?
BTW: Last year Australia spent on its ABC about half the cost of Kamala Harris's presidential campaign. We got good value. Doug butler (talk) 22:17, 5 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
