I suspect that the link to an outside image goes against site policy, but have left it as I'm not entirely sure. Can anybody confirm or deny this suspicion? Thanks, MightyMoose22 03:24, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

You are not copying the image, just linking to it, so you're not violating copyright laws. ----Tokek 09:57, 12 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fancy typography of titles - Keeping it unchanged or not in english Wikipedia articles

[edit]

Important Titles Note for ALL artists (please copy this on other asian artist talk pages)

[edit]

I must note something very important for future editors of this page (also try to observe this for any non English speaking band or author... etc): If you see a single, album, dvd, concert, or book title that contains poor grammar, please consider that even though the English spelling or grammar may be incorrect, that it still may actually be the official title. If someone is searching for the single, and cannot find it the official way... then what good is wiki? Please do not tamper with titles unless you have found hard evidence that the title has been written incorrectly from the official spelling. also note, some OFFICIAL japanese titles are titled in all CAPS (or with stars and hearts or other "non-letter/number characters) this is NOT a mistake, please leave them like this. All one must do is observe the picture or written info of the single/album/book on the official page which is linked in the article at the bottom. Please help keep wikipedia encyclopedic and correct! Thank you. -- NatsukiGirl\talk 04:12, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, can you provide arguments on why should we break the convention? why not putting redirects in the all uppercase titles? The article text could use uppercase, but I don't see compelling arguments for changing the convention of the title. Also, for the "people wil lsearch for the upper case title", well, that's what the redirects solve. So far I haven't seen a discussion (perhaps you can point it to me) and since there's no consensus yet, I suggest not to change albums titles to uppercase (as in AROUND THE WORLD from the existing titles). -- ( drini's page ) 04:16, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I already answered this question on the Yuki Isoya talk page. But I guess now I have to run around and post the answer... Basically an official title should NEVER be changed simply because someone has a different stylistic opinion about it. If you want to get rid of the caps take up the argument with record lables and the artist themselves. The best example is the YUKI single "joy" verse the YUKI album "JOY." Case closed. -- NatsukiGirl\talk 19:37, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Except that you didn't stating your point clearly was causing other editors to move articles changing their titles. -- ( drini's page ) 20:16, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fancy typography fetichism versus encyclopedia standardization basic practices

[edit]

Keeping the fancy typography of song and album titles unchanged in English Wikipedia articles :

this may be a funny fetichism, but this way of doing induces a major risk,

as it goes against the standardization pratices that are part of the basic principles of any encyclopedia.

This would engage Wikipedia in becoming a kind of weird complicated encyclopedia of typography.

(One could easily imagine that the next step of this approach would then be to

transcribe song and album titles in their exact original typographic font type only.)

Moreover, I don't think that a lot of people try to type Stars and Hearts or superscripts or japanese characters when they use an english-based search engine

(some exemples of such font characters are ★☆♥ or ² ⁶ or 夢見る)

[by the way, I type them here as I see them, but I don't know if your browser will show them to you correctly.]

On the other hand,

the fancy typographic form of a song/album/book title can be considered as an encyclopedic information in itself,

and as such can be included somewhere in the article main body or in a special section of it, as a supplemental information.

A viable alternative to the actual practice would then be to :

  • use only normal font characters in internal web page titles,
  • AND : include the original/official/commercial fancy typography title in the introduction of the article,
  • AND/OR : include this fancy typography title in a standardized special place in the article,
  • AND/OR : have redirection links.

Anyway, this is a major question, and accordingly to its importance,

this debate should be bringed to the main boards of Wikipedia.

If someone knows how to do it (and has time to do it)... thank you!

P.S.: Sorry for not using the standardized answer format of Wikipedia Talk Pages

(as this format clearly su... goes against the clarity of thought!)

Superscript 6

[edit]

The original version of her pseudonyms have the '6' in superscript. I saw from the page history that this was the case but was changed in rev 300980077 (diff). Would it be okay to change it back? kazu (talk) 10:43, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Age Inconsistency

[edit]

Was she born February 6, 1975 or February 6, 1978? Both are listed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.175.253.160 (talk) 21:09, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[Old Version]

- Tomoko Kawase (born March 28, 1986)

- Tomoko Kawase was born on February 6, 1975, in Kyoto, Japan

[Corrected Version]

- Tomoko Kawase (born February 6, 1975)

- Tomoko Kawase was born on February 6, 1975, in Kyoto, Japan.

[Reasons of Modifications]

- The only place where I've seen "1976" as the year of birth of Tomoko Kawase is on this part of this web page, so I suppose it's a mistake.

If it's not, please revert the modification AND include the source reference.

Tommy feb6's 3rd Album?

[edit]

Very possibly this is just a misunderstanding to her Twitter entry and may not exit. She said, "If only I could make a Pop album since it's the 10th anniversary of Tommy feb6...".

The album is now confirmed by her label in a press release. -ErickAutumn (talk) 02:32, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
