A fact from Tommy Wood (International Brigades) appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 3 April 2024 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
The following is an archived discussion of the DYK nomination of the article below. Please do not modify this page. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as this nomination's talk page, the article's talk page or Wikipedia talk:Did you know), unless there is consensus to re-open the discussion at this page. ALT2: ... that Irishman Tommy Wood, who was killed fighting for the Spanish Republic during the Civil War in 1936, had two uncles die fighting British forces during the Irish War of Independence in 1921? Source: [6]
Adequate sourcing: - There is at least one verification issue in the article. I cannot see where it's cited that Woods was a communist, or even a socialist.
Overall: Man, I knew this song but I didn't know the story behind it. I like ALT3 best but all the hooks are ok imv. (t · c) buidhe05:03, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the review Buidhe, much appreciated. It's an odd thing: but it's bizarrely difficult finding a source that states baldly ...and he was a communist socialist and republican, or something. I mean, I'm sure he must have been, since he went out with Ryan, Ryan was acting on behalf of the CPI, and the CPI would let anyone join them if they didn't share their political views, so the obvious assumption is that he must have done. But that's too many assumptions to stomach! And the article doesn't actually mention communism at all, except for the Party. So, I think a page move is in order. Would that break these DYK links if done now? ——Serial Number 5412916:52, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know enough about the technical aspects to say whether a page move would cause issues. My thought would be (International Brigades) as a disambiguator since that's what he was known for. (t · c) buidhe21:19, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Buidhe: Forgot to mention, I think your choice of ALT3 is right—the others are pretty much saying the same thing (re. his age), and the second might offend the Brits :) but the shortness of his service is stark (plus, added a link to the IB, for clarity). ——Serial Number 5412914:51, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Serial Number 54129: Not so fast. I apologise if this is news to you, but we have been in backlog mode since 8 March, which means that users with more than 20 credits are required to complete two QPQs for all nominations after this date. Please complete a second QPQ.--Launchballer20:52, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
