Cumberland College?
[edit]Tommy Burnett's college is listed as "Cumberland College." I linked the name to Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN, as the most likely school called "Cumberland" for a student from Middle Tennessee to have attended circa 1960. However, the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, KY, used to be called Cumberland College. Neither school website lists Burnett as an alum. Does anyone know for sure which college he attended? --Orlady (talk) 15:26, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
Cumberland University was previously referred to as "Cumberland College" prior to CU becoming a four-year degreed University in the 1980's. For a time, Cumberland housed the Cumberland School of Law- which eventually was sold to Samford University in Birmingham, Ala.
A Tennessee "Blue Book" lists Rep. Burnett as receiving an A.A. Degree from Cumberland University- which is correct when that school only functioned as a two-year college.Drsowell (talk) 01:25, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
