"The Most complete player" too subjective
[edit]I am changing the statement to "one of the most complete players". It is impossible to prove that he is worthy to be considered as "The most complete player", but while the other is harder to prove as well, its less absolute. His major record can attest to that, but not to the "possibly most complete player."John ISEM (talk) 18:56, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

"Peacock" terms?
[edit]This article seems to be peppered with unsubstantiated phrases that tend toward praise of Tom Watson, e.g. "very good amateur career", "especially memorable" victories, "stellar play". I get the point that he's a good golfer, but there's probably a better way of phrasing most of these (e.g., perhaps "the high quality of his play" instead of "stellar"). There aren't any references to his amateur career, which is probably a separate issue.
The section on "Playing style" seems particularly unbalanced to me. Pertusaria (talk) 15:17, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
Tom Watson publications
[edit]I don't pretend to know what publications Tom Watson has been involved with but 'The rules of golf illustrated and explained' in collaboration with Frank Hannigan was an excellent book. Perhaps someone with knowledge would add this to the file. He did not three putt the 72nd hole at the british last year! Keith Rodgers

2009 British Open
[edit]Shouldn't the "Best results in Major Championships" section show the second place finish from 2009 at the British Open? After all, his second place finish in the PGA championship is indicated in that section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.255.238.201 (talk) 02:31, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- Best means best, his 5 wins are better than 2nd place. Tewapack (talk) 15:39, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
Nothing much about his personal life compared to other celebrities
[edit]Was there information removed? No Personal Life section at all! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.73.22.113 (talk) 13:25, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
- Yes especially since there was just a short interview with David Feherty with Tom talking about how he helped Feherty overcome alcoholism because of his own history of problems with alcohol.Historian932 (talk) 14:30, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
