Carleton's Publication of 'Tom Tiddler's Ground'

[edit]

The New York publishers Carleton printed Charles Dickens' story entitled 'Tom Tiddler's Ground' as their Christmas Budget book for 1861. Interestingly, Charles Dickens is purported to have written just three of the seven chapters in the book ( see: http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Tom_Tiddler%27s_Ground ) and the New-York Daily Tribune advertisements for the 25c. publication says 'an entirely new work, BY CHARLES DICKENS and others, '. One of the adverts printed on December 25th., 1860 can be seen at the top of the fifth column here: http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83030213/1861-12-25/ed-1/seq-1/ . I wonder if anyone has any information regarding the other author(s) ?MZionC (talk) 11:24, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
