Research

[edit]

Hello all. I am a student in AP US Government & Politics and as a project we had to research a member of the House of Representatives and then add three paragraphs about their views on certain issues and/or interest group ratings on those issues. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Genemango (talkcontribs) 06:40, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Time to add a section.--Wikipietime (talk) 12:58, 29 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Membership in political medical association"

[edit]

Who is the shill that added this section? It reads like it was copy-pasted from HuffPo. Just say Price is a member of the group and leave it at that and let people make up there own minds about it. Criticism of the group should be in the article on the group, not here in the article on Price, especially since Price did not write or endorse the referenced articles (that are possibly being misrepresented here). One of the "scientifically discredited" points, that gays have lower life expectancy, is entirely true. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.250.64.10 (talk) 20:01, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Voting record on Health issues"

[edit]

Whoever added this section shows up as the user "Teenmd", but when one clicks on the user name Wikipedia comes back as saying there is no user by that name. The claim itself is an opinionated version from partisan sources of what the the bill in question actually did. And it's pretty clear that Price's "Voting record on Health Issues" is more extensive than this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.58.41.39 (talk) 00:52, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New England Journal of Medicine editorial

[edit]

This belongs somewhere, I'm not sure where. The NEJM had a blistering critique of Price's votes and policies. And this is the most respected publication in medicine.

"Price’s record demonstrates less concern for the sick, the poor, and the health of the public and much greater concern for the economic well-being of their physician caregivers."

Can Opioid Addiction Be Cured?
By Vanessa Schipani

Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price made two claims about opioid addiction that are contradicted by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, which is part of the department Price heads.

Price said, “Folks need to be cured so they can be productive members of society.” But there is currently no cure for addiction to opioids, or any other drug. The NIDA says “addiction is treatable and can be successfully managed.”

Speaking about treatment, Price claimed, “If we’re just substituting one opioid for another, we’re not moving the dial much.” But using opioids such as buprenorphine to combat addiction to more dangerous opioids including heroin is effective, say experts and the NIDA.
