Nicknames? Listed nicknames for Todd

[edit]

How many Todd's out there have nicknames?

One of the reasons why my parents named me Todd is because they thought that no one would be able to call me mean names which are related to my first name and/or twist my name into something mean, like some kids do.

I've also got a favorite nickname (Toddly) and I go by it often, both online and offline. My parents still call me Todd (probably 98% of the time) though. My dad will call me Toddly once in awhile, but not often.

So...what are your nicknames for the name "Todd"? And is that *your name* or the name of someone else that you know? What is your relationship with or to that "Todd"?

Please NUMBER (to help others to more quickly and easily find what they are looking for if it's a specific thing) and please list them like this (thank you):

  • NOTE:* Most obviously, no one has to answer any of these questions if they don't want to, this discussion is there for the reading too. But please do answer any of them that you would care to share with others (and please list the answers in numerical order).

1. Nice nicknames for the name Todd: 2. Mean nicknames for the name Todd: 3. My favorite nickname(s) for the name Todd is/are: 4. How and why did you (or they) get that (those) nickname(s)? 5. Who nicknamed you that or those names? 6. Do you like your (or the) name Todd? 7. Would you suggest naming anyone else Todd (and why or why not)? And, 8. I would like to share this (and/or these things) with other people because it is RELATED TO THIS NAME and because it fully goes along with this discussion.

Please separate each one with a space. That way it'll help others (and you) to find what they (you) are looking for in the many lists. I truly thank you for your thoughts, time and efforts. Maybe this discussion will help others out with perhaps naming their child "Todd"; this is my hope. And hopefully no one will read this thread just to get mean names to call someone whom they know who is named Todd.

Sincerely, Todd (aka "Toddly")

Here are some of my personal thoughts that I would like to share with you folks. I will use them as an example as to how to add your personal experiences with the great, awesome and wonderful name "Todd". 😉👍

  • EXAMPLE:*

1. I think and feel that some of the nice nicknames for the name Todd are as follows: Todder, Toddly, Todd Lee, Toddy, Hot Toddy, Todde (which by the way is the original spelling for the name Todd), and Fox (the name Todd is a Middle-English word and it means either "Sly fox", "Fox" or "Red Fox", depending on where you get your information) and Foxy (as in telling or describing someone as being really beautiful, sexy, or good looking).

2. A nickname that I think is mean (and hated), especially when an "older kid" calls a young kid, is "Toad". That one was really hard to deal with when I was only 5 to 7 years old. It bothered me greatly so some of the kids would pick on me by calling me that because they knew that I didn't like being called Toad. I don't think that kids would get away with that nowadays, but way back in the 1970s they did. We didn't have any classes on or rules about "bullying" way back then. There were basically only two ways of dealinh with that: tell your teacher or principal, or simply try to "grin and bear it" (meaning just smile and put up with it until they stopped doing it). Eventually that kid who was about 4 or 5 years older than me stopped it, but I don't remember why.

4. I got called "Hot Toddy" and "Hot Toddly" because I used to weld automobile axles and other very heavy vehicle parts at an axle production plant. I was also called that because I had a lot of women who thought that I was really good looking (back then) and really muscular because I lifted 50 plus pound axles 60-70 hours a week. I was really "built" back then too. <-- And lol @ those two "back then" statements. I was so used to lifting the 650+ axles every 10 hour day that I would stand there and do arm curls with the axles when I got bored waiting for enough axles to fill up the paint rack. And lol bc I had more than one person come up and tell me that I made them sick bc when they did that job they could barely lift their arms when they got home and that their back hurt too and that they were sore for quite awhile after that, and yet here I was standing there waiting and curling the 55 to 65 pound axles. Lol! I am smart enough that I kept a back brace in my locker though I wore it almost religiously.

I got called "Toddly" because one of my best friends (at that time) liked the nickname so he just started calling me Toddly. I was cool with that because (to me) it is a really neat nickname. And over the years I have (had) friends that only knew me by that name. Some thought that my actual name was "Todd Lee" and that that's just what I go by.

5. My best friend Jerry (whom I worked with) nicknamed me Toddly way back in the early 1990s. Some of my old 1990s AOL friends named me "Hot Toddy" and "Hot Toddly" because of my AOL screen name that I had way back then.

8. I had a college gym teacher who told me that he remembered my name because he associated my name with the meaning of the name Todd because my hair is a reddish-auburn color. I was only 18 or 19 then and I never really researched the meaning and etymology of my name before. So when I asked him about it he somewhat filled me in on it and suggested that I research it myself. So I did and that's kind of his I got here with y'all 30+ years later.

Thanks again for sharing with & possibly helping others by sharing your life-experiences related to the name "Todd".
