This "biology" section header could probably be renamed “life cycle” to match the form of other fly Wikipedia pages, and because much of the information in this section describes the life cycle of Tipula oleracea. If the section header “biology” is to be used, it should include subsections such as “morphology,” “genetics,” or “life cycle.” More importantly, much of the information on this page does not include citations. For example, there is a fairly lengthy section on the distribution of the species, but no reference included to verify the information. Joshkim_wustl (talk) 3:43, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
Marsh crane fly – are you sure?
[edit]Are you sure its common name is marsh crane fly? I'm asking because Tipula paludosa also states it's called the marsh crane fly and because I happen to know that in Dutch one name for T. paludosa is ‘moeraslangpootmug’ (lit. swamp long leg mosquito) whereas T. oleracea is most commonly called ‘koollangpootmug’ (lit. cabbage long leg mosquito). Also, in Latin ‘paludosus’ means swampy and ‘holeraceus’ means vegetable.
