Germanic Name Element
[edit]Is there any literature on the possibility of the "tinc" component of this name being a Belgic retroflection to Germanic "thing"? I'm struck by the similarity to e.g. "Mars Thincsus," the pronunciation of which would of course approximate "mars tincsus." I believe I've come across mention of some ancient Germanic leaders having "thing" as the first component of their given name. Any literature on this, or did we just wantonly assume that this word is probably Celtic because it turns up in Britain? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.125.221.71 (talk) 14:37, 7 September 2017 (UTC)
