Can it be made clear to everyone (especially 'Saga City') that Timperley is in Altrincham, it is not an independent village entirely on it's own. There are no such things as independent villages.

All villages belong to some sort of town, in the same way that hamlets belong to villages. Timperley is part of the town of Altrincham, thus the village's address is Timperley, Altrincham, Cheshire. Another example, when people say (including the wiki article) that Altrincham's population is 40,000 - that includes Altrincham town centre plus the areas surrounding it that are part of the town (such as Timperley, Bowdon, Hale, Broadheath etc.)

What I think Saga City is referring to is the fact that Timperley lies north of Altrincham town centre. This is true, but if you are going to include this fact then you must ensure that you use the term 'Altrincham town centre' rather than simply referring to 'Altrincham'. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by RRJ (talkcontribs) . There is much of Altrincham that would not be described as 'Altrincham town centre' [Comment was added by Altfish on 15/07/12]

Can you provide a source that verifys that Timperly is part of Alrincham town? If not, per every other article on Wiki about a settlement, (as opposed to district) we should use the convention and consensus that it is its own village.

Some of your points are wholly inaccurate also - Diggle, Greater Manchester is not part of a town, it is a village within its own right. It is quite feasible for villages to be non-contiguous with towns and thus form their own "independant" settlement. Jhamez84 14:52, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've done the referencing for you - it wasn't hard, but should you wish to continue contributing to the encyclopedia, please familiarise yourself with a few of wikipedia's policies, particularly WP:CIV, WP:V and Wikipedia:Citing sources. Jhamez84 15:00, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I am unfamiliar with editing Wikipedia. I just wanted to add that according to the ward profiles at www.trafford.gov.uk, the population of Timperley & Village wards combined is over 20,000. So I suspect that the population of 11,000 odd for Timperley as a whole is an underestimation.23:09, 21 April 2008 (UTC)Frank Sidebottom —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.162.57.178 (talk)

I think that the references to Caroline Aherne living in Timperley are unfounded. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.235.13.179 (talk) 14:03, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In the very interesting railway section, it should be pointed out that the Timperley curve of 1879 didn't actually survive for very long - though even as late as the 1950s you could still see its original route. It was certainly long gone when Sir Edward Watkin died, leaving the special trains for his funeral at Northenden with a rather tricky route to get there. Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Timperley. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

I was curious about ecclesiastical provision in Timperley - as one sometimes is - and went to the C of E Timperley Church website in search of a date for the church and any information about the past of the parish. Nothing to be had, I think, but it assured me that God will provide everything I need, just in time.
