2024 Improvements
[edit]Obviously I still have many more entries to source, but it feels good to get this a lot closer to what it should be. I've found a good collection of sources to hit over and over looking for the facts that have been omitted and sources for many of the entries. Though it will probably have to be more internet sources post about 2010 since I think the newest history book for Denver I've found is 2011. Thanks for your help @Pbritti, agree with all your edits so far. MatthewFromColfaxLibrary (talk) 00:01, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- @MatthewFromColfaxLibrary: Your work on the timeline–visible here–has been nothing short of phenomenal. Thank you for your work on this page. I understand that there are limitations in what printed histories are available on the city in recent times, but for earlier history I would direct you to Steven Fisher's 2012 A Brief History of South Denver & University Park, Allen D. Beck's entire catalogue (but especially From the Rockies to the World in its second edition; a copy was for sale at the Broadway Book Mall as of last month), and Templin et. al.'s The Methodist, Evangelical, and United Brethren Churches in the Rockies, 1850–1976. I see you cite a bit of Thomas Noel–outstanding–but not his 2016 A Short History of Denver with Stephen Leonard; a copy that I previously used for building the article on South Denver exists at the Lone Tree branch of the Douglas County Public Library and should be accessible via ILL. Let me know if you want any specific help sourcing any historical tidbits! ~ Pbritti (talk) 00:27, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Pbritti Thanks for the book suggestions. I shall look into what we have on the shelves here at work and what I can do through Prospector.
- Huh, we may know each other in real life. Or at least be only at one remove, I know Ron & Nina over at the Book Mall. Perhaps we should do a Wiki meet up, though not this weekend since it is going to dead cold.
- What are you doing (if anything) next Sunday the 20th? MatthewFromColfaxLibrary (talk) 21:01, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
- Almost certainly only one removed, then! Sadly, I live in Arlington, Virginia, as of a few months ago. I still come back to visit family frequently, though! If I'm ever in town and can swing a hour, I'll give you a ping! ~ Pbritti (talk) 21:59, 12 January 2024 (UTC)
