Copyright problem
[edit]This article has been reverted by a bot to this version as part of a large-scale clean-up project of multiple article copyright infringement. (See the investigation subpage) This has been done to remove User:Accotink2's contributions as they have a history of extensive copyright violation and so it is assumed that all of their major contributions are copyright violations. Earlier text must not be restored, unless it can be verified to be free of infringement. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions must be deleted. Contributors may use sources as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences or phrases. Accordingly, the material may be rewritten, but only if it does not infringe on the copyright of the original or plagiarize from that source. RPG or mortar?
[edit]There are no sources in the article citing it was an RPG tthat caused his death. My sources tells its was a mortor attack that lead to his death. http://www.deadline.com/2011/04/report-restrepo-director-tim-heatherington-killed-in-lybia/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.127.160.246 (talk) 20:39, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
- And there is video footage of the doctor who drove him to the field hospital describing the an 81mm mortar. From Kevin Dawes' videos.132.162.133.54 (talk) 22:33, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
County of birth
[edit]It is standard to state the county of birth of the subject. Birkenhead, which has been in Merseyside since that county's inception on 1 April 1974, was in Cheshire when Hetherington was born there in 1970. Jim Michael (talk) 15:30, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- It is true that the Wirral used to be wholly in Cheshire and is now partly in Merseyside. However, parts of the Wirral are still in Cheshire, but Birkenhead is not. It is confusing to use historical county boundaries rather than current ones, especially in this case where the boundary is blurred over time. It is also confusing to a reader with no knowledge of this. Imagine putting Rhodesia as a place of birth rather than Zimbabwe. The history of the boundaries are well covered on the Wirral Peninsula page if the reader is interested in them.82.133.93.217 (talk) 16:08, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- It is standard to state the county it was in at the time, not the county it is in now. The same goes for countries, we state Ceylon as the birthplace for people born in what was then Ceylon, not Sri Lanka, if it wasn't called that then. Jim Michael (talk) 16:16, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- Where is this standard cited? Who are we? There is no standard followed on this list: Category:People from Birkenhead Donovanhide (talk) 16:34, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- Template:Infobox person#Parameters states that the administrative region should be included for birth and death in the infobox. By 'we', I mean Wikipedians. Jim Michael (talk) 17:31, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- This is descending into pedantry, but it does not state Administrative Region at the time of birth. There doesn't seem to be an accepted standard; I think most people associate Birkenhead with the Wirral and Merseyside.Donovanhide (talk) 18:18, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- I can't find a guide that says 'at the time', but it is usual practice, and is obvious to me. The county should be stated, and it is nonsensical to say he was born in Merseyside, as that county didn't exist when he was born. See Fred Dibnah for example - he was born in Bolton and died there, but its county changed during his lifetime. Infobox says born Bolton, Lancashire; died Bolton, Greater Manchester. Birkenhead has been in Merseyside for 37 years, so it's not surprising that it is associated with that county now. Jim Michael (talk) 18:44, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
Telemachus
[edit]This 22 April 2011 change by Sam Blacketer (talk · contribs) claims The Times gave one of his middle names as Telemachus. I couldn't find a ref for that and since I did find one for The Guardian obituary that did mention his full name I'm assuming that the claim that the Greek word for "far from battle" was one of his middle names was a practical joke that Sam Blacketer was playing on us all. I'll bring this to Sam Blacketer's attention in case such a reference exists, but otherwise it would be a bit ironic for an IP editor to revert vandalism by an editor registered since for over four years. 67.101.7.246 (talk) 16:30, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
- If you want to check the reference, find a copy of Friday 22 April's edition of The Times and turn to page 70. The reference is in the first column, fourth paragraph down. Alternatively you can visit the online version although it is behind a paywall. Anyone else who is subscribed is welcome to confirm it. Sam Blacketer (talk) 18:07, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
"Louie"
[edit]Season 2, episode 11 (titled "Duckling") of "Louie", a tv show by comedian Louis C.K., is about his trip to Afghanistan to make the troops laugh and the episode is dedicated to Tim Hetherington. Should this be mentioned somewhere? Filmography? - Bart (talk) 23:57, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
- I'd say no, it's not, as it's so inconsequential. Wikipedia shouldn't be a repository for a random collection of factoids. Lopifalko (talk) 01:33, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
