In my original contribution, I combined two tenses. I used the present tense when talking about the machine because the machine is still in operating condition. When someone turns the crank, the machines' gears turn, the pulleys move up and down, and the dials indicate values. However, the machine is no longer used to compute annual tide tables. Hence, when I discussed the routine use of the machine for producing tide tables I used the past tense.
One of the edits changed present tense when discussing the machine (e.g., "Tide-Predicting Machine No. 2 ... is a special-purpose mechanical analog computer") to past tense ("...was a special-purpose..."). I'd like to change that back, but would appreciate feedback or suggestions. Sf9000 (talk) 20:23, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
