[edit]I have removed the deletion proposal on the ground that I have heavily revised and expanded the page. I have also added numerous solid sources, including the BBC and the Journal of Western Folklore, both of which pass WP:V and WP:RS.
I would say that being covered by both the BBC the journal of Western Folklore pretty much answers and any all questions of notability an reliability that could possibly be raised. This is clearly a real and notable piece of English history. The fact htat it is still continuing after hundreds of years is also a testament to this.
