i've been looking for stuff on the definition of threat in international law and the closest i've found so far is:
- http://www.tridentploughshares.org/article966 search for "threat" here - looks like an optical scan or someone typing without someone doing a full proofread, there are a few minor spelling/grammatical errors
- the s:Vienna convention on the Law of Treaties mentions the role of threats in international law without actually defining it :(
The tridentploughshares quote is:
- a passage in Brownlie’s International Law and the Use of Force by States (at 364) to the effect that "a threat of force consist in an express or implied promise by a government of a resort to force conditional on non-acceptance of certain demands of that government".
If we change this to a threat of force consists of an express or implied promise by a government of a resort to force conditional on non-acceptance of certain demands of that government then this makes sense. Is this strong enough for the article? Until someone comes up with something better (Brownlie's text does not seem to be online), IMHO it should be OK. Boud 14:23, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
How about some references to psychological studies related to threat? DivineAna 01:01, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
AfD closure
[edit]So in the end, is the consensus of the AfD discussion that this article be kept as it is, with no title change? -Eric (talk) 03:54, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- The page has been moved to "Threat of force (public international law)". The dictionary definition and existing disambiguations have been moved to a new disambiguation page for Threat. --Moonriddengirl 15:13, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
