Genealogy sources

[edit]

I'm having a little trouble with the genealogy of this. The main source is the Slate article which seems very solid (much better researched than most articles in the general media, in fact) but has its problems (for example, its reliance on Macauley, a source that I found ambiguous). But what struck me here was the source "Baptismal record" with absolutely no further description. No reputable (or even beginner) genealogist would leave a source hanging like that, which leads me to question the rest of the information. It seems to me to be particularly important to be cautious, given that the name "Thomas Walker" was wildly common at the time (and pretty common even now, as seen in your disambiguation page for the name). alacarte (talk) 14:41, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

When you say Macaulay are you talking T.B or Zachary? As I'm currently reading Zachary's journals and they are pretty unambiguous as to the nature of the man. Zachary describes him as being shot by a crew member after an attempt to stab him by another failed. His body was thrown overboard. "Thus ended Walker's career; an end worthy of such a life. There could no possibly have been a more inhuman monster." 213.48.225.253 (talk) 17:57, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
