Clean up and expansion in 2020

[edit]

Tom Tugendhat is now on the global radar, not just as former XO level commander in NATO forces but as member of the Atlantic Council. Given his potential influence, seems to be time to get a clearer outline of the thinking and activity of this person. Would be good to give this article a better structure to begin with. Looking at the examples of Best Articles on political figures (who are still alive) I look to the articles on Stephen Harper and Ed Miliband as the benchmark for balance and good referencing. I think a good structure would be:

a) Early life

b) Military service

c) Parliamentary service

d) Political views

e) Personal life

Would be delighted to have a couple of people to bring in material with me. Do I have a volunteer? Erasmus Sydney (talk) 10:29, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

IPA

[edit]

I'd love to add some IPA to this article, since the pronunciation of "Tugendhat" is, I think, not particularly intuitive. Based on this Twitter video, I'd go with something like /ˈtɡəndhɒt/ — though I'm not convinced about the inclusion of the /d/ nor the articulation of the /ɒ/. — 🦊 03:52, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think that's correct@Fox. Just listened to a couple of short interviews, and the journalists pronounced it: 'tew-gend-hat.' MatthewDalhousie (talk) 03:33, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

French? Ça alors.

[edit]

A recent edit suggested the subject is "British-French." I note his father is English and his mother is French-born, but that doesn't necessarily give the bloke dual citizenship. MatthewDalhousie (talk) 03:28, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
