The Preston Magnet
[edit]In an earlier version of this article, a user had contributed a nice paragraph on the magnet that Preston used in his discovery of the anomalous Zeeman Effect. The photo looks legit, along with the information provided, as can be checked from Fig.6 of the following article: Unfulfilled renown: Thomas Preston (1860-1900) and the Anomalous Zeeman Effect I would suggest embedding this information and photo back into the article in some form, it is an interesting magnet; having such a device in 1890s made all the difference in being able to measure the line splitting.
