Nobel Prize

[edit]

"Due to his work on the laser, he was twice nominated for a Nobel Prize". I don't believe that nominations for the Nobel prize are ever released or confirmed. They do it for Academy Awards but not the Nobel Prize. There is no way to confirm this. Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) 05:13, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is quite easy for nominations to get out, but a source is needed for this. Nomination records are sealed for 50 years, so we'll find out sooner or later. Sam Hayes 09:05, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to his biography at the National Academy of Sciences, he was nominated three times for the Nobel Prize: http://www.nasonline.org/publications/biographical-memoirs/memoir-pdfs/maiman-theodore.pdf Mahousu (talk) 15:45, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I had the extremely good fortunate to work for Ted Maiman in the early 1980s when we both worked for TRW. Ted was in charge of New Ventures for TRW Electronics, and I was chosen to head one of the new business ventures. Ted was - without a doubt - the best manager I ever had. His combination of intelligence and openness, combined with an ever challenging, constructivy critical, questioning style, made it a joy to work for him. We remained close after he left TRW, and I was profoundly saddened to hear of his passing.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.209.129.132 (talkcontribs)

Hello, You expressed Ted so well. Can anyone imagine the pleasure I had married to him for 23 years? --Kathleen Maiman (talk) 17:54, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
