General information
[edit]The book by resistance fighter Henriette "Zip" Roosenburg is not a fictional novel, but a depiction of her hardships during the Second World War. Roosenboom was betrayed, arrested and sentenced to death in 1944. She was subsequently held in various Dutch and German prisons and was liberated in May 1945. In the book she describes her life-threatening retreat with several fellow prisoners from Waldheim to the Netherlands, through the Russian lines and ruined Germany.
