This film marked the only time both John Wayne and Rock Hudson acted together. As screen icons, they were at their height of popularity by the time this film appeared. While Wayne did more films, Hudson left the films for TV. He left to do the series McMillan and Wife which ran on NBC in the 1970s. Other stars of the film, including Richard Mulligan, Jan-Michael Vincent, and Lee Meriwether followed Hudson on this with TV appearances during the 1970s and 1980s.
The cast list is wrong. Ben Johnson is listed as Mr. McCarthy & Dub Taylor is listed as Short Grub. A quick look at IMBD will tell you that Dub plays the cook Mr. McCartney (not McCarthy) & Ben played Short Grub.
I just watched the movie for the first time tonight, & that is how the end credits read.2601:0:7480:3E9:D426:503F:72D0:48AC (talk) 05:18, 20 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
