Awarded Contracts
Moved from article: "Four more UFC contracts were awarded to Season 1 The Ultimate Fighter contestants: Josh Koscheck, Kenny Florian, Sam Hoger, and Nate Quarry, all of whom have fought in UFC events since then."
- I've moved this off the article as fighting in the UFC doesn't necessarily mean they have been awarded contracts. The contest winners won 6-figure three-year contracts which is much stronger than given individual UFC fights. While I suspect some of them have some sort of contract, esp Nate Quarry, I don't think that merely have a fight or two implies that they have a contract. Do we in fact know that they have been given contracts? Chiok 22:29, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
- It's been widely reported that Luke Cummo received a contract either that night or the day after the TUF2 finale. For the TUF1 guys, I don't know if it's ever been reported that they have a contract or are on a fight-by-fight basis. I know that they billed the last fights with Leben and Koscheck that winning them would allow them to be "ranked" in the UFC, but I don't know if anyone knows what that means. - According to this forum post (with data credited to Dave Meltzer), only TUF winners get the 6-figure contract, non-winners who become UFC fighters get 5k to show + 5k win deals. In case anyone wants to know, only about $36k is guaranteed on the TUF contract, which covers 3 fights in the first year. Afterwards, there are two more option years (UFC's option) on an increasing scale, the max payout would be $300k if the fighter wins all 9 fights on the contract. I won't put this on the article since I would like to see a 2nd source to corroborate. hateless 06:05, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
Season 3 fighter box
I notice that there are ones for season 1 & 2. Can somebody make one for season 3? I would do it myself, but I'm not sure how to. SilentRage 21:45, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- Nevermind. I did it all myself. SilentRage 23:41, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
Episode 12
I noticed that the results of episode 12 are on the page, even though it won't air until next Thursday. My gut reaction tells me that the information is made up. Perhaps it should be removed?Alex Klotz 04:38, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- It was aired. It aired right after the 11th episode on Spike TV. hateless 04:45, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
Split
Since TUF 4 is coming soon (3 mos or so), it's coming to a point where the page is beginning to get too large. I'm proposing we do the Survivor treatment to the article, giving each season it's own page, and if there's no objections in the next week or two I'll volunteer to do it. hateless 04:39, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- No objections here. Sue Anne 16:51, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed, split them. TJ Spyke 03:11, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Kendall Grove
he dominated that finale match with Ed Herman! Kendall grove won fair and square! What is the point of having a finale if you are going to give the loser a contract aswell??(Fr3nZi3 05:20, 25 June 2006 (UTC))
What are you talking about? That was a very close fight and could have gone either way. Ed Herman earned that contract. Besides, they did the same thing with the season 1 finale as well. Only the winner was guaranteed a contract. TJ Spyke 05:32, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- Please only discuss the TUF article here, not the show itself, per Wikipedia guidelines. Sherdog.net and MMAFighting.net are good places for discussion on the TUF finale, especially since they are going to have much higher traffic than this page. Thanks, hateless 08:00, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
The Ultimate Fighter 9
I was wondering at what point it is appropriate to add a new page for TUF9. We know it's supposed to happen: initial try-outs have taken place, Michael Bisping has been selected as the 'UK Coach,' and there seems to be plenty of online sources of information on season 9. From the way I look at it, the only delay is to know the actual season's title and thus the article's name:
- The Ultimate Fighter 9
- The Ultimate Fighter: Team Bisping vs Team (Henderson or Franklin)
- The Ultimate Fighter: UK vs US
I'm not sure how difficult it is to rename an article. So if the article was created with the first name, I don't know how big a deal it is to change it to the second or third should that become the official season title. Anyone else have thoughts? --TreyGeek (talk) 03:25, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
