Anti-feminist

[edit]

"Although the film was a decent commercial success, Garofalo was very unhappy about the film, calling it "anti-feminist," and virtually disowning it."

I've looked through the list of all 156 results currently being returned by a Google search of "The truth about cats and dogs" garofalo anti-feminist. All that seem to be relevant appear to be quoting this Wikipedia article. If no one can find a valid citation, I'll remove this in a month or so. I would remove it right now except it has such a compelling air of verisimilitude. Dlabtot (talk) 07:54, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is close [1], but the actual quote isn't there. I'll look further.--Slp1 (talk) 23:44, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This is about all I can find. JANEANE GAROFALO - IN MY OWN WORDS by JANE HUTCHINSON, 29 March 2009. Sunday Telegraph Magazine"my fame was still pretty minor until The Truth About Cats & Dogs came out in 1996. That was the big one, but I'm not really a fan of that film. It was kind of corny and I don't think my character should have gone back to her boyfriend, because he was unkind about the way she looked." --Slp1 (talk) 23:57, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Very similar to the avclub interview: "I have no idea why that film appeals to anyone. I can't stand that film." because "I think it's soft and corny, and the soundtrack makes you want to puke, and everybody's dressed in Banana Republic clothing." Which is a far cry from calling it 'anti-feminist'. I'm not going to edit the article right now but these sources definitely help. Have at it if you want to. Thanks.
