Cult?

This remake of a cult film does not itself have a reputation staked on a small fanbase. Low in budget, it was marketed to a mass audience, most of whom received it as a conventional horror film. While apologizers for this remake may exist, the legacy of this film is based on the video market for modern horror rather than on a devoted following. Jonathan F 23:19, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

"Apologizers for this remake"? Can you say "POV?"--CyberGhostface 01:20, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
No, you can't. Advocates for a remake of a regarded film are appropriately called apologizers: they offer the view that the remake is acceptable or justified, while other fans of the original might be more resistant. Jonathan F 08:05, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
So this has nothing to do with your personal opinion on the matter? Because it seems you have a negative bias towards the film. Furthermore, a quick look at the cult films category shows a lot of other films that should be removed if we were to follow your logic.--CyberGhostface 19:18, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
No, it doesn't (and I don't). Prove, if you will, that this film has a cult following. Jonathan F 02:12, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
Fine, remove it.--CyberGhostface 03:17, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Cannibalism

Although not explicitly stated, it was implied that the family was cannibals; the salt on the wounds, the false teeth, the severed body parts, etc, etc, etc.--CyberGhostface 01:21, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

That can also be interpreted as methods for torture. --Kevin Walter 20:48, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
What was with the false teeth? What did that signify? And Leatherface putting the salt on the wounds and then wrapping it seemed like he was trying to keep the meat fresh.--CyberGhostface 22:03, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

I missed about half of this film, I watched it on Sky Movies. I missed the Chandaliar death and another Chainsaw death, I think it was the blonde girl.

Plot...

Plot is not complete. An incomplete plot doesn't make an article look good. Abby724 02:38, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Alright. I'll work on it. --  Mikedk9109  (talk)  15:12, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Footage

The film shows footage that claims to be taken from the police files at the investigation of the "real" leatherface - does anybody know if this is true (if the footage is real)? I feel like it would make an interesting addition to the article, as well as other references to the 'true' story that tcm is based on. -Elizabennet | talk 02:04, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

You're joking, right?
There was NEVER a real Leatherface. The closest thing there was to it actually happening (in terms of it being inspired by a true story) was Ed Gein, a nutcase who wore people's skins and made furniture from bones.
Look at this site for more info.
Sorry if I came across as a bit harsh, but there are so many people believing Leatherface is real because of an announcer and some grainy black and white footage that its driving me bonkers.--CyberGhostface 03:37, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

I added a fairly detailed plot summary. You may edit for grammatical errors and such, but please do not leave it as it was before. The previous summary was highly ambiguous and provided no real summary of the movie.

The summary is still fairly incomplete. A number of scenes, such as Hoyt's first appearence and the scenes with the other family members, are missing.--CyberGhostface 01:25, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, fix it then. Atleast it's more detailed than what was there before. And besides, you don't need a complete play-by-play, like the summary for the remake of Black Christmas.

We don't need a specific play-by-play but at the same time certain plot elements need to be introduced. If you're going to mention Jedidah then bring up how he tried to stop Leatherface, for example.--CyberGhostface 21:22, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Erin

Does anyone think Erin should have her own Wikipedia article? I mean almost everyone else in the film has one, and the survivor of the original TCM has one, so I think one about Erin should be added.

I've been considering making one but never got around to it. If you want to do one, go ahead and I'll try helping.--CyberGhostface 20:58, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Ok I added a very basic page called Erin (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre). It is a stub and lacks a lot, but has the very basic information needed. Anyone that would like to contribute is welcome to.

Fair use rationale for Image:Texas chainsaw massacre.jpg

Image:Texas chainsaw massacre.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Title?

The title of this page makes little sense in relation to its progenitor, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Both are films, and I realize neither are based on a novel or anything of that sort, which would necessitate the use of the (film) qualifier, but how does it make sense to have the original with nothing and the remake with (film), thus implying the original is not a film? Beyond concerns of strict consistency among article titles, I think this is likely to cause some confusion with people searching for either version of the film. A simpler solution would be to move this page to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003 film) and then either moving the original to The Texas Chainsaw (1974 film) or simply leaving it where it is. Another option would be disambiguation page, although in my opinion the greater notability of the original film probably makes that unnecessary. Any of these changes would be more consistent with the article titles of other films whose titles are not references to anything else. SS451 (talk) 17:56, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Ah...I'm now seeing that the titles are, in fact, subtly different, as reflected in the link to the disambig page above. I still think that for the sake of avoiding confusion, it would make more sense to simply add date references to both article titles. SS451 (talk) 17:58, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Plot summary & character descriptions

If someone would care to cut down the plot so that it's a *summary* and not a full description of most of the movie. And if that same person or someone else could edit if not do away with that those awful character descriptions so that they don't say things like "he died a hero" and "5th best person" to survive. They seem very biased and lingo-y amongst elementary/teenaged fans of the film. Or I'll do it later, but I don't have time to make the necessary edits at the moment. Thanks. - LoveLaced (talk) 05:51, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
