Twins identical?

[edit]

Hi! The article's lede reads that the twins are identical, yet the paragraph in the Plot section states that they are non identical. Which is correct? I added another reference, but it didn't give this information either. I'll never get to see the series, so I can't fix it. Thanks Fylbecatulous talk 20:02, 10 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cast list - subheadings or not?

[edit]

So there's a small edit-war brewing here. Sid95Q doesn't think there should be subheadings in the cast list, arguing broadly that the cleanup is consistent with WP:TVCAST. I am aman goyal seems to think they should, arguing "the charcters deserve individual subheadings as their original series's characters have."

We have a learning opportunity here for both of you: The long-standing version of the article has the subheadings for whatever reason. Sid, you are making a bold change by changing the status quo. If you are reverted (as you were), then you should open a discussion on the talk page to seek a new consensus for your vision through discussion with other editors. That is a basic Wikipedia concept ( WP:BRD). If the other editor is unwilling to discuss after a reasonable amount of time, then you can restore your changes, but discussion needs to be attempted first.

So the main questions seem to be:

  1. Is there anything at WP:TVCAST that says we cannot have subheadings in cast?
  2. Is there anything at WP:TVCAST that says we must have subheadings in cast?
  3. If The Suite Life of Zach & Cody has subheadings in the cast section, are we required to have subheadings here?

The other issues are:

  1. Can the character descriptions be trimmed down, as Sid95Q tried to do? Are we OK with that?
  2. If we trim down the descriptions to a sentence or two, then do we need the subheadings?
  3. Sid95Q also removed the crew list. Are we OK with that? (Note: See MOS:TVCREW)

Okay, so if these are the basic issues at play, you should both start discussing. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:14, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to edit the cast by following the WP:TVCAST instructions, as the heading was "Cast and Characters" I followed the first example Fringe (TV series). The Subheadings I am aman goyal is talking about is not on The Suite Life of Zach & Cody are not actually on that page they are on List of recurring characters in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. I tried to trim the character description to avoid some Plot details as it was looking like an extension on "Plot section" but i think in some cases it was trimmed to much and we can work on that but as per the "subheading(s)" issue Ithink there is no need of subheading for every character, "Main", "Recurring" and "Guest" (if any) are ok. Sid95Q I think if enough description of main cast is available to us unlike other Indian sitcoms, then it should be described in the page as well. Also, an average sized description should have a subheading. It also makes a direct link from actor's filmography to his/her respective character. I am aman goyal If linking of character is required we can redirect it to the "cast and characters " section and the user will get all the information and I don't think there is any need of linking every character to an actor's filmography if the character is not notable enough. So i don't think there will be any issues if we will not add subheading for every main and recurring character.Sid95Q (talk) 17:32, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Cyphoidbomb: I explained my actions now i think it's time for your comments and guidance. Sid95Q (talk) 16:43, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@I am aman goyal: Please reply as the discussion is not over yet.Sid95Q (talk) 17:09, 5 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • My preference is for the shorter summaries without the subheadings. If this was a stand-alone article for just the characters, the subheadings would make sense. It's not though, and there's nowhere near enough depth of sources to support it's own article. If anchors are needed for individual characters, you can use the {{Anchor}} template. • Query: Has this issue been resolved from lack of contrary interest? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:28, 7 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Cyphoidbomb:, @I am aman goyal: Stopped replying here. Sid95Q (talk) 09:01, 7 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
MOS says not to do this, and multiple FA / GA articles follow the MOS style, I'm 100% for the changes by Sid95Q. I am aman goyal's version is not supported by the MOS, not supported by the best quality examples available and they aren't inclined to discuss. Ravensfire (talk) 17:31, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Cyphoidbomb: I think it's time now that this issue should be resolved. Sid95Q (talk) 08:03, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Since the other user stopped participating long ago, I'd say that's probably fine. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:57, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
