From Mirage to The Spectacular Jihad of Taz Rahim

[edit]

Can we get some clarification on why the article title is The Spectacular Jihad of Taz Rahim, when all the references call the movie Mirage? To a casual reader, this looks like an article that is using hoax references. If the film changed names, that presumably should be mentioned in prose and supported with a source. Removal of sourced content by Nequa.s

[edit]

In this edit I restored content that was removed by Nequa.s, namely the LA premiere date. Per template instructions we care about a couple of things in the |released= parameter: 1) Where did the film premiere? So far we can document that the film premiered April 15, 2015 in Los Angeles. The claim that this was an advanced screening is not supported by the references and it's unclear why that would matter anyway. At The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water for instance, we see that there was a New York premiere before the US premiere.2) When the the film premiere in the origin nation? So far it's unclear whose film it is—Is it an Indian film or is it a US film? Both? Without that information, we can't accurately determine how to display the film release dates. If it's an Indian/US co-production, then we might care about the 29 May 2015 US-wide release as well as the pending Indian release. If it's just an Indian film we would still care about the Los Angeles premiere, plus we would care about the Indian release. For these reasons, I have restored the content that was removed. Questionable critical response section and box office analysis

[edit]

Oh boy, now we get into the fun stuff.

I'm challenging the content in the critical response section, and I'm surprised I didn't catch it sooner. In this edit, Nequa.s makes a claim that the film received 5/5 stars. Where are those stars in the supporting reference? It looks like a deliberate attempt to inflate this movie, especially considering the other claim made in the same edit by Nequa, that Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a 100% rating. The word "revolutionary" doesn't appear in the reference either, and the direct quotation "raw and original" is an improperly refactored version of "rawness and originality". For these reasons, I am removing this deceptive content.

Similarly, from this edit, Nequa makes the claim Preethi Ravi of the Deccan Herald praised Rahsaan Islam's portrayal of Taz Rahim as a "charming, fun, and exciting experience". However this phrase does not appear in the supporting reference, which makes the statements again deceptive.

Lastly, we have what we are supposed to believe is an analysis of box office take in this edit. Nequa makes the claim The film has become a commercial success by recovering it's production costs with the film's release in the USA. My first problem with this is: since when did breaking even constitute a "success"? Next, the sources used here and here don't actually say anything about breaking even, or how much the budget was, or how much the gross was, or any of that. Deccan Herald calls the film a commercial success, but without any context, it's meaningless fluff and should be cut. Mid-day doesn't even describe what they mean by "success", although it's implied in Monica's quote in the first line that they mean "response". However, since Monica is being quoted, she is a primary source and cannot be used as a reliable independent reference. For these reasons, particularly because there appears to be a deliberate attempt to deceive readers, I am boldly cutting both the response and box office sections.
