I remember talking on stage with Harry Corbett during the talent spot section of the stage version of The Sooty Show in Aberdeen in the early 1960s. What a nice man he was! I was only 5 but I've never forgotten it. -- Derek Ross | Talk05:11, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
My Aunt presented me with a Sooty bear, a real stuffed teddy, on my welcome into this world in 1961. He was my favourite of all my stuffed animals, and I still have him to this day, although he has seen a few patches, eye transplants etc.
As a young child I took him everywhere, and will never forget the day I accidentally left him behind in a park while visiting relatives in the Cronulla area of Sydney, which was many miles from our home on the northern beaches. I had slept in the car on the way home, and was put to bed. Of course I was devastated when I finally woke up and found he wasn't with us.
But my older "cousin" asked around, put up some "LOST" signs, and from memory it was at her school that someone revealed they had found Sooty under a tree, and so we were re-united! He still sits beside the bed today.
I also had a number of Sooty story books, that were filled with puzzles and games too. Don't know what happened to those over the past decades.
Ah well, getting all sentimental in my old(er) age. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1.129.110.222 (talk) 05:37, 11 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
