(Comment by 134.225.163.117 moved from article:) This is erroneous, The Song of Dermot and the Earl is not the same as The Deeds of the Normans in Ireland nor the Conquest of Wales. The Conquest of Wales (Expugnatio Hibernica) was written by Gerald of Wales and is likely to be associated with The Deeds of the Normans in Ireland whilst The Song of Dermot and the Earl was written by unknown author and, as the title suggests, is a song rather than a chronicle

Source is Mullally (2002) of which the title page reads: "The Deeds of the Normans in Ireland - La Geste des Engleis en Yrlande - A new edition of the chronicle formerly known as The Song of Dermot and the Earl" Francisque Michel's edition of 1837 gave it the title Conquest of Ireland. G.H. Orpen's edition of 1892 gave the title The Song of Dermot and the Earl. Mullally notes that "any title must be hypothetical" but plumps for La Geste des Engleis en Yrlande and translates it as The Deeds of the Normans in Ireland. The Expugnatio Hibernica is a different work entirely. Man vyi 15:32, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Correct name in French?

[edit]

This article gives it as 'Chanson de Dermot et du comte' but over here it is 'La Chanson Dermot e le Conte'. Which is correct? 86.44.62.178 (talk) 03:40, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
