Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio reference
[edit]Neil Gaiman wrote on his blog in Dec. 25th, 2007 about this reference the following:
“ | I learned from Wikipedia that Sandman:The Dream Hunters was actually based on Pu Songling's Strange Stories From A Chinese Studio, which I thought I ought to read. Will report back. | ” |

- Oh dear. I feel mildly embarrassed - when I saw that claim, I looked up an e-text of the book but couldn't really find any obvious candidate, so I just slapped a citation-needed tag into the claim. I guess what I should've done was remove it entirely. --Gwern (contribs) 20:12 25 December 2007 (GMT)
- You know, it's quite possible (given he was wrong about sourcing the work in Ozaki's book) that the source tale for Dream Hunters *is* actually in Songling. The last version of the article's text is probably appropriate and useful, and the article would probably benefit from its reinstatement. DrJon (talk) 21:43, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
- I didn't take the Ozaki thing as Gaiman being wrong, so much as it being just another example of his 'metafictional' techniques, if you follow me - all the claiming more antiquity, faux attributions, sly allusions, and other Borgesian japes that so often appear in his works. --Gwern (contribs) 00:49 26 December 2007 (GMT)
- In order to make life more metafictional, I added Gaiman's statement about reading this article to the article. Makes you wonder what Borges would have thought about Wikipedia, doesn't it? Anville (talk) 23:15, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
Update content
[edit]-About this: "most recently in the Foreword to The Sandman: Endless Nights." Should this be changed now that the most recent reference to this is the introduction to one of the issues of the comic book adaptation (I don't remember which one)? Also, it feels like there should be more information about that, I think 3 issues are already out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.80.140.130 (talk) 22:19, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
