Differences between the Book and the TV adaptation

In the TV adaptation...

Jim is considerably older than 13
Major Marchbanks is stabbed by Mrs. Holland
Mrs Holland's 'tame burglar' is killed by Mr Berry, her 'tame thug'
Mrs Rees simply disbelieves Sally, rather than blaming her
Trembler does not appear at all
Sally's involvement in Frederick's business is barely covered at all
The whole segment with a replacement pistol is not present
Sally and Frederick buy some opium before rescuing Matthew Bedwell
Matthew Bedwell has his throat cut by a tall man of European appearance in the grounds of the Oxford vicarage
At this time, Sally is seen to be stalked by a mysterious Oriental
Mrs Holland go to Swaleness to search for the ruby, when she ses the inn sign (The Turk's Head) and realises how to solve the cipher
Mrs Holland seizes Adelaide herself, with Mr Berry's help
