Surnames

[edit]

Based on the film, the names of the characters are explicitly stated as Martha Hunt, Ingrid Parker and Damian Cunningham. Until the screenplay is published, there isn't any other source than the literal film itself. Yet, someone keeps removing this information when I add it. Please tell me how to cite something like a film as a source that ISN'T going to get some editor to just revert the change, please? TDP1995 (talk) 08:33, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Until the screenplay is published, there isn't any other source than the literal film itself. There are secondary third-party sources, which happen to be, by and large, the bricks from which this encyclopedia is primarily constructed.--Asqueladd (talk) 17:56, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In the film, the characters are referred to by their full names on multiple occasions, both verbally and textually, such as having their names written out on book covers and posters. If the film itself is not considered a legitimate source, then what is? DeadParrotMatt (talk) 22:09, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Are they credited with full names in the end credits? Mike Allen 10:15, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of actor

[edit]

@Asqueladd Just requesting some more info. I don't a reason for the removal of my edit other than SPA, but I have just started out as an editor. My apologies for the initial IMDB reference and thank you for pointing that out. The sources are not from user generated sources and I also provided multiple for insurance. Perhaps instead of just striking it, it can be discussed here on the talk page as I believe that is the process for information that is not immediately in violation. I'm here to listen and learn as well as contribute. ArtistShare (talk) 20:01, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Which "info" are you requesting? We have the case pertaining the addition of a seemingly unknown actor, outside of main cast lists provided in sources, with no Wikipedia article to speak of, just below the top billing block, introduced by a committed user (and previously an IP). The article can certainly live without mentioning that actor. As for whether the article can live mentioning that actor, when the dust settles, we may still have concerns of the reliability of the cited sources (still moot, I am not an expert on c-grade hollywood blogs), the case for the notability of the name in a given cast list (and its relation with WP:DUEWEIGHT), and a possible conflict of interest, which you may be required to declare for the sake of transparency.--Asqueladd (talk) 20:10, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your response. The actor is in the movie, the references confirm this and perhaps you can go see the film as well. What are the main cast list sources you are referring to? Is there some official definitive source that I am somehow missing? This is a valid contribution. Although I respect your opinion and viewpoint, I do not believe that it is relevant to posting factual information. Please restore the edit you have deleted as there is really no good reason to remove it as it is correct and cited. ArtistShare (talk) 20:21, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have not deleted your edit. I have removed the red link and placed the actor last in the article's cast list, as she is a member of no cast list in any of the cited sources.--Asqueladd (talk) 20:33, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose that the dust settled early, so now I have indeed fully removed the addition.--Asqueladd (talk) 20:35, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please undo your deletion. There is no good reason to not include it as it is simply factual. The character of Stella is not an insignificant part to the plot of this movie and proper references have been provided. Once again, you are most certainly entitled to your opinion however it is not really appropriate to destroy other's edits simply because you do not recognize the actor. If you still have an issue with it, please undo and it can be discussed here on the talk page. If you would prefer to use references that do not offend you please use the existing metacritic page (ref 32) as it is listed there as well. Thank you! ArtistShare (talk) 23:40, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Since no response, I have added the cast member back with multiple references. Since you prefer it at the bottom of the list I trust there will be no further issues. ArtistShare (talk) 20:35, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
the character of Stella is not an insignificant part to the plot of this movie and proper references have been provided How so? How is that claim (your claim) meaningful when it is not part of the plot section? Since no response If you plan to stay here, less than 24 hours of waiting is not going to make it. The actor is arguably irrelevant, and sources writing holistically about the film do not cite the actor along the rest of the cast. The presence of the actor/character bynomy in the cast list (as long as the actor does not have a Wikipedia article) is flimsy, a violation of due weight, and a shining example of editing under a conflict of interest, which you still refrain from declaring.--Asqueladd (talk) 19:53, 25 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
