"Less appealing"
[edit]The article says Further UK hits followed with "Finchley Central" (#11) and "Green Street Green" (#37), both based on locations in London and therefore less appealing to the American public. I don't buy this as an explanation - why would songs about places in London be "less appealing to the American public" than a song about a place in Hampshire? I would have thought that they'd be equally (un)appealing. Perhaps there are more likely explanations (such as the songs not being as good, or perhaps the novelty having worn off)?
