Matt 7:1-5 is teh basis of both articles, so not much debate is needed. History2007 (talk) 06:09, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Burns

[edit]

Burns wrote after the New Testament was published. He is not independent of the same, therefore. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.97.194.200 (talk) 13:23, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It also isn't the same thing. "I wish I could see myself as others see me" is not the same as "you are in no position to judge". Frankly, I have no idea why it is there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7D:44A0:8700:90E4:9371:93CB:BFC3 (talk) 11:38, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at the linked source, Herbert Lockyear does not say it is similar to the parable, but that they illustrate the fact we do not spend enough time examining our own faults. This is one of many implications of the parable, but it is not similar to the parable. I will therefore remove it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7D:44A0:8700:90E4:9371:93CB:BFC3 (talk) 11:41, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Judging others

[edit]

Erm... Shouldn't Matthew 7:1 be "Judge not, that ye be not judged" 95.146.57.115 (talk) 18:53, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Grammar

[edit]

Do we need the line "The first two verses use plural "ye" and "you", and the next three verses use the singular "thou", "thy" and "thine" to the individual. (Luke 6:41 was translated "thou" after using "ye" in Luke 6:37.)" when this is standard English? It might make sense in the simple English Wiki, but one assumes here readers can distinguish plural from singular. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 12:12, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
