Simpsons?
[edit]was this also on the simpsons? (one of the halloween episodes) i remember a pull string talking krusty doll possesed by evil.
--I believe the Simpsons' episode to be a parody of The Twilight Zone episode called "Living Doll," with the doll named Tiny Tina. The doll says "I'm Tiny Tina and I'm going to kill you," which is pretty much what the Krusty doll says to Homer. There are also a couple of shots in the Simpsons episode that are direct visual references to the T.Z. episode.67.90.21.66 (talk) 17:43, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Cleanup
[edit]I added a cleanup tag because the synopsis is very, very brief and makes very little sense. I haven't read the story, or I'd fix it myself. -Elizabennet | talk 22:17, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Ending
[edit]Does Hal row with his son in the original short story (as described here)? He doesn’t in the Skeleton Key version. Jane9138498 (talk) 16:02, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- Interesting! What happens in that version? You can see the short story here. Seems like the PDF is from April 4, 2000. That may pose a challenge if there are different versions across the board. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 18:33, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- Actually, in this one as well, I think it's clear that Petey says on the shore. 69.129.197.31 (talk) 18:43, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- ```
- Petey splashed toward him, arms out, screaming and crying and laughing. Hal started toward him and
- floundered. Petey, chest-deep, floundered.
- They caught each other.
- Hal, breathing in great winded gasps, nevertheless hoisted the boy into his arms and carried him up to
- the beach, where both of them sprawled, panting.
- "Daddy? Is it gone? That nastybad monkey?"
- "Yes. I think it's gone. For good this time."
- "The boat fell apart. It just. . . fell apart all around you.
- ```
- --> So, I don't think this summary from the article is accurate.
- ```
- Together, they row to the deepest part of Crystal Lake, where Hal places the monkey in a flight bag weighted with rocks and throws it into the water. As the bag sinks, Hal hears the faint sound of the monkey's cymbals clapping. During the disposal, their boat capsizes, but Hal and Petey manage to swim ashore safely.
