[edit]HELP! Could someone roll back this article to the latest version before the vandalism? Grottmannen (talk) 14:26, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
[Introduction]
[edit]The statement in the introduction that "It was first published in 1899" is belied by the rest of the article, which refers to a revised publication in 1762, as well as to the book's having been "banned, burned" etc during the 18th century. If the year is simply wrong, or if the author intended to state "first COMPLETE publication" or something like that, could this change be made? Chip (talk) 15:42, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
"Never completed"
[edit]Given the ambivalent reaction to his own work - re-edited and republished 1762 without the controversial content, as noted later in the article - claims by Voltaire that this was never completed should probably not be believed if they were made later in life. OTOH if he said this in, say, 1735, that's plausibly true rather than an excuse. -- PDVk (talk) 00:16, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
Illustrations
[edit]I've changed the images to more suitable ones. These others I came across might be even more in the spirit of the work. Sparafucil (talk) 23:48, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
