Death

[edit]

An anonymous editor changed this article to state that the subject is alive, which is not true. I am looking for a more authoritative place of publication, but "Twitter" is not the source – the Leather Archives are – they are a reliable source, and multiple personal sources have confirmed his death. Wikipedia should not state something which is known to be false. -Jason A. Quest (talk) 12:40, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"Bill Schmeling lives in Portland, Oregon" is not true. I know that; people who knew him have confirmed it to me. You know that; the Leather Archives has confirmed it to the public. Putting false information in Wikipedia is simply a bad idea. -Jason A. Quest (talk) 16:55, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Twitter should not be used as a reliable source unless it is a Verified Account. We prefer not to use it anyway. It 's about verifiability, we are talking about biographies of living people, it can't be so easy to add a weakly sourced date of death. An official statement issued by Leather Archives on their site (they have one, no?) would be enough. I believe you, but everyone could come here and claim he knew the subject died. Verifiability is another thing. And Wikipedia is not a news agency, if a confirmation takes time we'll wait. --Folengo (talk) 17:07, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
See? Only had to wait. --Folengo (talk) 14:07, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
