No actors?
[edit]I haven't seen the film, but I vaguely remember some documentary shots from audition for it, contrasting pathetic amateur singers with a professional one (perhaps Hana Hegerova) - certainly the firemen played themselves, but I think there were some professional actors as well. 89.102.137.191 16:22, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Panenko.jpg
[edit]Image:Panenko.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Was the film banned?
[edit]An unsourced claim in this article stated that the film was not in fact banned in Czechoslovakia. I looked into the matter and tried to find any sources to support that claim, and found none. I found many which stated that the film was initially shown in the country until the Soviet crackdown and invasion in 1968, after which it was banned "forever" and Forman was forced to leave the country. That seems to be the standard story in the English language literature, and I have edited the article to reflect that. If anyone has any more insight into the question, we can consider amending the article. Toadchavay (talk) 07:07, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
ponti
[edit]it should be made clear that ponti pulled his financing b/c he found the film too short. i am guessing he might have implied "silly" or "amateurish" as well, tho i cannot find anything beyond "short" just yet. either way, article right now makes it sound like he found content OFFENSIVE like the czech authorities. i find no evidence this was at all the case.
should be made clear he objected solely(?) due to its length. 2601:19C:527F:A660:DC8A:84D8:E045:9F2C (talk) 09:55, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
