Removal of uncited material; corrected Neutral Point of View issues throughout article

I did extensive work to bring this article in-line with Wikipedia's quality standards for an encyclopedic article. I do respect the hard work that those before me did to create this article, but my corrections were needed according to the wiki-alerts regarding NPOV and writing style issues that have been on this article for several years now.

I would encourage wiki-editors that have the time to please continue the work of editing this article, as more is needed. As a guideline, if anything is not critical information to a basic understanding of these individuals, please consider omitting it to avoid fanboy-style writing.
