Just wondering

[edit]

After Mitchell left the group, did they continue recording under the name Chad Mitchell Trio? Maybe, but it seems odd that they would do so or that Mitchell would allow it. If anyone knows of a name change it should be noted in the article and/or discography. Herostratus 08:08, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

After Chad Mitchell's departure the group called itself the "Mitchell Trio." This is stated in the article, although not quite as definitively as one might wish. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.58.141.71 (talk • contribs) .
To clarify the prior response: They were the Mitchell Trio as of Slightly Irreverent, the next-to-last album with Chad. Xlmvp 18:22, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ANOTHER QUESTION: Did The Chad Mitchell Trio sing a parody of The Kngston Trio's "San Miguel"?--Howard5252 14:44, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am not aware of CMT doing such a parody - it does not exist in recorded form on any of the album's/CDs I have, which is a pretty complete collection. But it would be completely consistent with the original group's irreverence.

On another matter and a bit of a quibble - while Denver did in fact write two songs recorded by one version or another of the group - "For Bobbi" and "Jet Plane" - to my knowledge Mitchell never actually WROTE any of the songs recorded by his configurations of the group. He is often credited (on the early albums as "W. Chadbourne Mitchell") as the arranger, here mostly of public domain traditional songs.

Past tense? Not yet...

[edit]

This article begins "The Chad Mitchell Trio was..."

They are not past tense, yet. They have concerts scheduled for 2010 http://www.chadmitchelltrio.com/concerts.html

I don't want to step on everybody's hard work on this article. I will leave this to you folks who have been doing this up to now, I would suggest changing the first line to:

"The Chad Mitchell Trio is an American folk music group, popular during the 1960s." Kid Bugs (talk) 12:29, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Blowin' in the Wind" (they were in fact the first to record it

>"Blowin' in the Wind" (they were in fact the first to record it, but because the record company objected to releasing a single with the word "death" in it, Peter, Paul and Mary's became the best-known version

Peter, Paul and Mary recorded it in late 1962! When did the Chad Mitchell Trio record it?
