An "advance copy" has been leaked onto the net

Yep the real deal leaked out last week after radio stations got their advance copies. I must say that it is a bit lackluster and disspointing after a 3.5 year wait to get an album that is not as good as MHTRTC or Geogaddi. Don't get me wrong, it's a pleasant enough listen, but very ambient at times and the songs have a sort of "sameness" too them. The addition of more guitar is welcome though and although only a few tracks have beats that will get your fingers drumming on the desk, it's still a good listen. I will still be buying a legit copy next month, hopefully a Japanese import or limited edition.

No more silly "insights"

Chroma means a property of colour. As such, there are a lot of words which feature chroma as a prefix. Let's not list them all for the sake of it, okay? Okay. WMarsh 11:22, 13 September 2005 (UTC)

No need for 'definitions'

Theres absolutely no need to have "Meanings" for the song titles. These are all biased opinions and are the result of the person looking up the definition for each word in the title and/or making ridiculous assumptions.

I'm sure you realize everyone who's been working on this article disagrees with you. I'm rving your edit until we can come to a consensus.

I don't entirely agree, even though the title descriptions are essentially my fault in the first place. I see three options here -

• Keep 'em.
• Trash 'em.
• Move them to their own article, as done with Lyrics of Boards of Canada.

If other people would like to pipe in and give their opinions on this matter, we can reach some sort of conclusion. I'm leaning towards trashing them, but a separate article seems like a good compromise. WMarsh 13:47, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

I'd say at LEAST move them to another article. As a long time Boards of Canada fan I was seriously irritated upon reading these 'meanings'. Speculation about what one thinks a song's meaning is has no place in an encyclopedia of factual information. Just my two cents. Bendtosquares 11:45, 22 September 2005

Well, there are no opinions - just facts. I'd say a few of them could be trashed, but many of these are useful, especially the one for '84 Pontiac Dream. I'd say this is BoC's first set of track names that has a significant amount of deeper meaning, at least in the popular sense.--Easterlingman 17:16, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

While I agree that SOME of the clarification might be useful (those regarding definitions of what certain words mean) , some of them are just absolutely ludicrous. For example the one about Hey Saturday Sun, Constants are Changing, Farewell Fire, or the comment about "Sherbert Head" being a type of oral sex given with Sherbert in the mouth (you've got to be kidding me). This is honestly an embarassment to Boards of Canada fans everywhere. To think that someone would depreciate the meaning and value of their music to that level is just plain sad. While I may not Michael or Marcus, I'm going to going to go out on a limb and say that these track titles were NOT meant to be taken that literally. Bendtosquares 2:28 September 2005 (UTC)

Yes - I hate the ones which aren't plain facts as well. Nothing's stopping you from editing ruthlessly - I wouldn't miss the sherbet blowjob one, in particular. I'd say that moving the title descriptions to a separate article is the least that needs to be done (another option would be to find someone to host them on an external site and provide a link). I completely agree with Bendtosquares's comment about this being an embarassment. As much as I've absolutely loved the deeper meanings behind BoC's songs in the past (circa MHTRTC and Geogaddi), they state in their recent Pitchfork Media interview that they've tried to avoid much of this for CFH because they were tired of people pulling out completely ridiculous things from their music. I'd love to believe there is much more there, but I just don't think that's what they intended (if you've heard the leak, you'll notice it's devoid of the subliminal messages, obscure sound clips, children's voices, etc., which I find very disappointing.) As I originally added the section, I've made the move to trash it (as seems to be the best idea according to consensus). If anybody wants to do anything with the comments (new article, website, whatever) then they're in the history (for however long that lasts for).

Album released on Bleep.com midnight 15/16 October

Many of us in the U.K. have received our copies already (mostly during the week - mine arrived yesterday), so the actual release date is a little blurred. WMarsh 17:02, 16 October 2005 (UTC)

I think that the link to the Warp pre-order site on the first paragraph is uncalled for. It seems like an advert or something and when I first saw it I thought that perhaps the article had been put together by someone at Warp Records. Can this be removed and replaced at the bottom of the page with a non 'purchase motivated' link to the album's page on the Warp web site? Adamburton 09:20, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

Significance of Album cover art work?

Is there any info on the significance of the art work used for the album? The still photo shots used appear to be from a movie or kids TV show. Any ideas what it might be? and if so does this tie in with the concept of the album?--Redblossom (talk) 11:55, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
