Unwarranted endorsement

[edit]

Until 11 November 2019, this article contained a paragraph that read as follows:

"Over the years, it has been recognized as being among the best of small city daily newspapers in Canada. In a feature story on the paper, Maclean's magazine referred to it as "the Cadillac of Canada's small dailies.'"

I removed this because the first sentence is littered with peacock terms, and because the second sentence is misleading. The Maclean's article is from 1984 and emphasizes the independence of the Sun, which it no longer is. Moreover, the article merely refers to someone's opinion. This is the full quotation from the Maclean's:

"What brought that about was a telephone conversation in which a usually reliable source passed on to me the opinion of another usually reliable source—making three of us in all—that 'The Brandon Sun is the Cadillac of small-city newspapers in Canada.' At a time when the two notable justifications of at least some small-city newspapers are that they carry the Wednesday food ads and provide a service in that wrapping the garbage in the radio is impractical, a paper capable of being called the Cadillac of small-city newspapers is clearly worth a look." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.50.170.245 (talkcontribs) 2019-11-11 08:22 (UTC)
